Privacy Policy
Who We Are
Our website address is: https://www.jaysgardening.com.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. We use the CleanTalk Anti-Spam plugin, which may process information for spam detection. The CleanTalk privacy policy can be viewed here.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS) in the images. Visitors to the website can download and extract location data from images on the site.
Cookies
- Comments: If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience, so you don’t have to re-enter details for each new comment. These cookies last for one year.
- Login Page: A temporary cookie is set when you visit our login page to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- Logged-in Users: When you log in, we set up cookies to save your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends login persistence to two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
- Publishing Content: If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser, containing the post ID of the edited article, and expires after one day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves the same as if the visitor were visiting the other website directly. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who We Share Your Data With
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. We use Easy WP SMTP to send emails, which securely manages email delivery.
How Long We Retain Your Data
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognise and approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our website (if applicable), we store the personal information provided in their user profile. Registered users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (excluding username changes). Website administrators can also view and edit that information.
Your Data Rights
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold, with the exception of data retained for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where Your Data is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (CleanTalk Anti-Spam). Additional data is processed by the Security by CleanTalk plugin to protect the site from online threats, such as viruses and malicious attacks.
